The aim of the present study is to describe the relationship between addiction potential, resiliency and loneliness in
dormitory students of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences. The research method is descriptive – correlational,
and the population consisted of all male and female students living in the dormitories of the Zahedan University of
Medical Sciences. They were enrolled in the academic year 2013-14. Two hundred and seventy six students (138
girls’ and 138boys) were selected by simple random sampling. The Addiction potential scale, resiliency scale and
loneliness questionnaire were used to explore the relationship of the factors in dormitory students. The results of the
correlation coefficient showed there is a direct and meaningful relationship between the addiction potential and
loneliness(r = 0.205) and an inverse and meaningful relationship between addiction potential and resiliency ( r = –
0.414) .There is also an inverse and meaningful relationship between resilience and loneliness( r = -0.453).The
results of Multivariate Regression Analysis showed that resilience has a significant contribution in the prediction of
addiction potential. The results of T test for Independent groups showed that there is no significant difference in the
potential addiction scale between boys and girls students .The focus of conducted research in this field refers to the
addiction potential formation during lifetime and expression peak in early youth and preset research highlights the
reinforcing of resiliency factors in healthy population and decrease of loneliness in these ages.
